Inspired by Persian Miniature painting, it is a painting based on my romanticised memories of my aunt's courtyard home and the longing/waiting to revisit. There is a sense of stillness in the work, (marked by the absence of creatures and humans and calm colours.) I wanted to evoke a sense of anticipation, an excited eagerness to open the gated door after a very long absence. How in those moments, the world can feel like it comes to a standstill.
